Have you considered adding meditation to your life but you don’t know how to get started? We’ll show you how with a pint of local beer.
Mindfulness is a huge buzzword right now. Maybe you wondered why so many people have made it a part of their daily routine? We’re here to make mindfulness accessible and fun, as we’ve done with yoga, and we’re bringing it to one of our favorite brewery partners, Six Harbors Brewing Company in Huntington. The focus of the class is “Stress Less” and we’re giving you the tools you need to relax in times of great stress. Class is Tuesday night, ensuring you go into the rest of the week with a relaxed and ready for a great weekend!
A little about mindfulness
From fortune 500 CEOs and celebrities, and even your next door neighbor have all dabbled in mindful meditation. Mindfulness means being present at the moment, focusing on your breath, your environment, and noticing any thoughts that come up. Over time this practice can reduce stress, increase focus, help with your overall wellness, and even your physical wellness (since body and mind are so closely linked). We’re proud to have Stephanie Rose, a News 12 anchor and Mindfulness expert at the helm of this new movement!
How long is this meditation?
This meditation class will be 30 minutes. But don’t worry, not all 30 minutes are quiet.
How is the beer involved?
You will be mindfully sipping your beer during class to fully appreciate your beer with all of your senses.
How will this meditation differ from other classes I’ve been to?
This class will be at a brewery, so it will be an unlikely location for a class, but you will have a chance to relax during and after class with the added benefit of a pint of beer!
I am new to meditation, will this class work for me?
We’re here to make your first experience into mindfulness fun. There’s no judgment with and definitely a few laughs. You’re free to come and go as needed without disturbing others.
Is this gonna be weird and ultra spiritual?
Absolutely not, just like our yoga classes, this is designed to be a fun and relaxing experience for everyone. There will be no chanting or Sanskrit involved. 😉
What should I bring?
We suggest you bring a yoga mat or towel to sit comfortably on the ground.
